Cold Norton Pre-School is a committee run pre-school with charitable status. We provide high quality, sessional care for children aged 2 up to the time they start school. We are registered with Ofsted and, as such, receive regular ‘on-the-spot’ inspections. We are registered with The Department for Education and are also members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, having close links with our Development Officer.

Our pre-school opened in 1966 and is located in Cold Norton Village Hall, next to enclosed playing fields. Cold Norton is a small village near the town of South Woodham Ferrers (5 minute drive) and the historic town of Maldon (10 minute drive). We have close links with the local primary school. The hall has recently been redeveloped and the pre-school’s new home is in a fully self-contained area with its own facilities including toilets for the little people!

Our aim is to enhance the development and education of children under the statutory school age in a parent-involving community based group. We provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment and work within a framework which ensures equality of opportunity for all children and families.

Please note that in the event of adverse weather conditions there is a possibility that pre-school will be closed if

1. Cold Norton Primary School is closed
2. Staff cannot get in to work

Please listen out for school closures on Essex fm or check their website for the Primary school being closed. If the primary school is
closed then we will be closed as well as we will not have enough staff to cover opening.
